Why choose Envison Electrical Solutions for Your Generator Backup Needs?
When the lights go out in South Florida, the stakes are higher than most places in the country. We are not talking about a minor inconvenience. We are talking about food spoiling in the Florida heat, a home with no air conditioning during a summer storm, medical equipment without power, and businesses losing revenue by the hour. At Envision Electrical Solutions LLC we have built our generator backup services around one simple principle: when you need power, you need it to work. No surprises, no shortcuts, no compromises.
Reliable Power When South Florida Needs It Most
Severe weather, grid failures, and aging infrastructure can all trigger unexpected outages. In Broward and Palm Beach Counties we deal with hurricane season from June through November, afternoon thunderstorms that roll through almost daily in the summer, and a utility grid that takes a beating every single year. Power outages here are not a matter of if. They are a matter of when.
Our generator backup systems are designed to make sure that when the power goes out on your street, life inside your home or business keeps going. Refrigerator stays cold. AC keeps running. Lights stay on. Business operations continue without interruption.
Understanding Your Options: Portable vs. Whole Home Standby
One of the first conversations we have with every customer is about which type of generator is the right fit for their situation. There is no single correct answer and we will never push you toward a solution that does not make sense for your home, your lifestyle, or your budget.
Portable generators are the more affordable entry point for backup power. A quality portable generator in the 10,000 to 13,000 watt range can keep a South Florida home running very comfortably during an outage. We recently performed a real world load test on a customer's 13,000 watt DuroMax generator and had the following running simultaneously: central AC, refrigerator, ceiling fans, lighting throughout the house, microwave, entertainment system, Wi-Fi, and a washing machine. All of that drew only about 13 amps. When the electric dryer kicked on it briefly spiked to 35 amps, still well within the generator's 50 amp capacity. With the dryer off there was enough headroom remaining to also run a standard water heater.
For most South Florida homeowners a properly connected portable generator in the right wattage range is a reliable and cost effective solution that will keep your home comfortable through any outage.
Whole home standby generators take it a step further. These units are permanently installed outside your home, connected to your natural gas or propane supply, and activate automatically within seconds of losing power. No manual setup, no running to the gas station for fuel, no interruption to your day. If someone in your household works from home, relies on medical equipment, or you simply want a completely hands off solution that requires zero action on your part during a storm, a whole home standby generator is the right answer.
What Size Generator Do You Actually Need?
This is one of the most common questions we hear and the honest answer is that most homeowners overestimate what they need. You do not need a massive generator to stay comfortable during a South Florida outage. You need the right one, sized correctly for how you plan to use it.
For a home running true essentials during an outage, a portable generator in the 5,500 to 8,500 watt range connected through a proper interlock kit can comfortably handle a refrigerator and freezer, lights and outlets, Wi-Fi and phone chargers, fans, and a window AC unit or smaller central AC.
If you want to run a full central air conditioning system or an electric water heater at the same time as your other essentials, stepping up to a 10,000 to 12,500 watt generator gives you the flexibility to do that comfortably without constantly managing your load.
The generator itself is only part of the equation. How it is connected to your home is just as important.
The Right Connection: Interlock Kits and Transfer Switches
A generator sitting in your garage is only as useful as the system connecting it to your home. At Envision Electrical Solutions we install two types of code-compliant generator connections depending on your needs and your property's setup.
An interlock kit is installed directly on your existing electrical panel. It works by mechanically preventing your main breaker and your generator breaker from being on at the same time, which eliminates the risk of dangerous backfeeding into utility lines. Once your generator is running and the interlock is engaged, you simply turn off the breakers for circuits you do not need and turn on the ones you want to power. An interlock kit allows the capability to run every circuit in your home from your portable generator and is the more affordable option for most residential properties.
A transfer switch is a separate dedicated panel wired to your home's most essential circuits. It offers a cleaner more streamlined solution, can be configured as manual or automatic, and is typically the right choice for larger homes or whole home standby generator setups.
Both options are fully code-compliant when professionally installed and both prevent dangerous backfeeding into utility lines. The right choice depends on your home's electrical setup, your generator size, and your budget. We will assess your situation honestly and recommend the solution that makes the most sense for you.
A Word on Generator Safety
Every hurricane season we see preventable accidents caused by improper generator use. Before we install any system we make sure every customer understands the fundamentals of safe generator operation.
Never run a generator indoors or in a garage. Carbon monoxide is odorless, colorless, and deadly. Your generator needs to be outside and at least 20 feet from any windows, doors, or vents at all times.
Never connect a generator to your home without a proper interlock kit or transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician. Using what is known as a suicide cord, a male to male extension cord plugged directly into a wall outlet, sends electricity backward through your home's wiring and out into the utility lines on your street. This creates an energized line that utility workers have no way of knowing is live. Linemen have been electrocuted and killed because of backfed lines from improperly connected generators. It is illegal, it is a fire hazard, and it puts lives at risk. If anyone you know is doing this please have them call us immediately.
Test your generator before you need it. Run it under load at least once before hurricane season starts. Check the oil, confirm it starts, and make sure everything is operating correctly while you still have time to address any issues.
Store fuel safely in approved containers, keep it away from living areas, and treat it with a fuel stabilizer if it has been sitting for more than 30 days.
Install a carbon monoxide detector inside your home as an additional layer of protection even when your generator is properly placed outside.

Spoke with Nate at Envision and he sent out Nick his electrician. Both Nate and Nick were very professional. I called various other electrical companies and felt uncomfortable. Had one stop by the house and my wife asked him to leave based on his prices. Itās so rare to find a honest company, but I found one. Take my advice do not use anyone but Envision or you will pay a much higher charge. Nick worked quickly and installed my outdoor lights and a few light sockets. He did an excellent job. I rarely leave a review, but I was so impressed. Thanks Nate and Nick.
Nate and his team are the best. Coordination and execution are second to none. We would highly recommend them if you need top notch electrical work done šŖ!!
I had a really great experience with this service. Nate was professional, friendly, and easy to work with from the start. He was quick to respond and very prompt when setting everything up, and the installation itself was done right on time. He and Nick handled the work the day of service, and both were respectful of the space. They wore shoe covers, kept everything clean, and made sure the work area was left in great condition. Everything was completed neatly and worked exactly as expected. Nate took the time to answer all of my questions and made sure I understood what was being done. What stood out most is that he does the job the right way. He advised against doing a splice inside the wall on a 120-volt circuit, explaining that itās not safe or up to code since splices need to be accessible in a junction box. That gave me a lot of confidence that he prioritizes safety and quality over taking shortcuts. He was also upfront about everything. For example, he let me know ahead of time that a wall would need to be cut and that Iād need a small drywall patch after, so there were no surprises. He clearly wants the job done right. Overall, very professional, clean, and reliable service at a good value. I would definitely use them again.
